Por La Plena Tour: New York City

The second stop of our 3-city Por La Plena tour is our return HOME. We are excited to present a weekend of talleres, community gatherings and musical celebrations in The Bronx and El Barrio, in partnership with Bronx Music Hall and La Casita de Chema/El Rincón Criollo.

The weekend kicks off with a special LP21 Un Paso Alante workshop event facilitated by master bombero, plenero y tremendo amigo, Víctor Vélez on June 4, 6pm at the LP21 studios in Julia de Burgos. Then on June 6th at 8pm the Pleneros ensemble and special guests from Puerto Rico take the stage at Bronx Music Hall for an evening designed to get all dancing and featuring a special pop up performance by youth students of our very own Bomba and Plena Children’s Workshops. And to close out the weekend, on Sunday, June 7th - the closing celebration and family-friendly gathering of the Bomba and Plena Children’s Workshops followed by a plenazo in honor of José “Joseíto” Rivera at La Casita de Chema/Ricón Criollo from 12pm - 3pm (rain location: Bronx Music Hall).

It is a great series of events to kick of the month of June, and the Puerto Rican heritage events around the Puerto Rican Heritage Parades of NYC.
