This is our Christmas aguinaldo for you all… On behalf of Los Pleneros de la 21, this Christmas we want to offer you a very special present: an aguinaldo with Puerto Rican master traditional artist, Don Orlando Laureano. Maestro Laureano will meet with us via ZOOM directly from Puerto Rico to talk with us all about the origins, meaning and evolution of the Puerto Rican Aguinaldo, and how this musical offering has been at the heart of the Puerto Rican Christmas’ parrandas for generations.

A community celebration of the holiday season and a LP21 cultural initiative legacy and annual tradition.

Join us as we close our 40 años de Bomba y Plena Boricua y Más celebrations with the official start of the Bomba and Plena Children’s Workshops (BPCW).

The BPCW kicks off its 2023-24 year with a special theme to honor the  past, present, and future decades of Los Pleneros de la 21’s performing and teaching of Puerto Rican cultural expressions: El Legado de la 21: Next Gen Pa’lante.

Artists will come together to discuss the vision for Alex Apolo Ayala’s Afro-Puerto Rican Jazz Band celebration of LP21.

Celebrate the 40th anniversary of East Harlem’s historic bomba y plena group Los Pleneros de la 21 with a family bombazo and plenazo all afternoon. Meet and greet LP21’s dance and drum teachers for a children’s dance class at a12:30 p.m. and drumming class at 2:15 p.m.

Join LP21 as we help Centro, The Center for Puerto Rican Studies at Hunter College, celebrate their 50th anniversary at their Open House on September 21st.

LP21 will be at Pregones Theater to help get it filled with Bomba and Plena, Afro-Colombian Bullerengue, Hip Hop, poetry and activism this upcoming Saturday, September 16th!
