The long awaited re-launch of the UPA series return just in time for the Puerto Rican Parade and the sizzling summer months with three separate series of classes, each featuring different musicians and practitioners of Bomba and Plena. LP21 encourages musicians from all backgrounds and disciplines and supporters of traditional music to participate in one or all three of these concentrated cycles, guaranteed to motivate you in taking the “next step” in your arts and music learning.

RITMOS Y MEMORIAS CANTADAS:
the arts of singing, writing and improvising songs in Puerto Rican Bomba and Plena

June 10th (6-8pm) & June 11th (11:30 am – 1:30pm)

VÍCTOR VÉLEZ
(talented singer, versed percussionist, and PLENA LIBRE front man)

For two consecutive days, participants will learn traditional songs and histories of the
 Bomba and Plena repertoire,
how to improvise verses in their sung format,
and add to their own personal repertoire by beginning to write their own songs.
Each day will offer specific topics that build off of each other, so you can take one session or take both!
