Background: LP21 originally created the Bomba and Plena Community Workshops (BPCW) for children in 1989 to disseminate and stimulate the Puerto Rican traditional music and dance of bomba and plena among youngsters. With the success of the children's program, heightened public interest led to the creation of the adults' program nine years later. Since then, hundreds of children, youth and adults from all over New York and beyond have benefited from these programs.

Children’s Workshop - For 17 years, this exciting educational and performing music and dance program has been the platform for children/youth of 6 to 17 to learn and embrace bomba and plena, through traditional songs, percussion, dance and history. The new puppetry arts program is furthering the creativity and imagination of the youngsters as they integrate session activities with bomba and plena music and dance. Application Form.
