KICK OFF YOUR PUERTO RICAN DAY PARADE ACTIVITIES WITH YOUR FAMILY SURROUNDED BY COMMUNITY, MUSIC, ART, SONG, DANCE AND EXCITING CELEBRATIONS!

Every June, LP21 culminates its year-long Bomba and Plena Community Workshops (BPCW) with a dynamic performance presentation provided by the youth and children students of the program that not only showcases their talents learned throughout the year, but also reaffirms our community expressions in the next generation of artists, cultural arts practitioners and Latinos.

This year, the program’s 23rd Graduating class, brings to the stage a unique presentation that tells the stories and experiences of the Caribbean, from Puerto Rico to New York and Back… all through the swinging rhythms of Bomba and Plena.

As expressions that captured every aspect of daily life, from the flora and fauna, to children’s games and the Puerto Rican migrant experience, the numerous songs, dances and practices of Bomba and Plena open a window to celebrating, honoring and remembering the shared stories and experiences of the Caribbean.

This year, our multi-generational graduating class—featuring our Chespiritos students of 2 years old all the way through our Adultos participants—put together a special presentation feauturing new choreographies, narrative stories, drumming arrangements and special surprises for all to enjoy!

Performances are original and arranged by LP21’s powerhouse instructor ensemble:
Sandra Bell, Crystal Chaparro, Yelimara Concepción, Nelson “Mateo” González, Alexander LaSalle, Juan J. Gutiérrez and Julia L. Gutiérrez-Rivera.

Come and join us as we embrace our youth and a new generation of Bomberos, Pleneros and cultural leaders!
