After a successful first season in 2007, we’re proud to bring back our new series dedicated exclusively to celebrating La Plena Puertorriqueña, now in a unique DANCE party format, so that you can enjoy la plena as its meant to – by dancing and signing with us ALL NIGHT LONG! Goza y Baila La Plena! includes live performances by the LP21 ensemble, venerated guest artists and musicians plus a special presentation by the pioneer class of Bomba y Plena: Un Paso Alante – our new urban institute for traditional and performing artists. This must-see dance concert will highlight La Plena’s diversity and versatility through a musical performance journey from lo típico to the contemporary and back all in LP21’s unique and swinging style! Songs include new compositions and arrangements by Juan Gutiérrez and Edgardo Miranda – you will not want to miss this. If you’re interested in learning how to dance, sing or play la plena, Goza y Baila La Plena also includes an educational component with our energetic dance and percussion workshops with weekly classes every Saturday from 11:00 am 1:30 pm until June 2008 at the Julia de Burgos Cultural Center.
