Bomba y Plena en la Casa (in the house), is LP21’s series of in-house dynamic and educational performances on Afro-Puerto Rican Bomba, Plena and other NYC cultural traditions and cultural expressions offered to NYC schools and students (grades k-12) to stimulate the awareness of our diverse traditions and the importance of East Harlem’s Cultural Institutions.

This program offers NYC schools, educational organizations and student groups with the opportunity to engage in accessible arts programming that is normally not available in the everyday curriculum through interactive, age-appropriate performances including: insightful narratives, energetic performances, and interactive group exercises involving students and teachers directly on stage with artists!

Each session focuses on a specific tradition or community expression, seen year-round in NYC’s diverse neighborhoods, providing audiences with a complete tapestry of our rich cultural legacies. Upcoming dates and themes for 2009-2010 are:

Limited seating is available for general audience members (must call ahead for information). Dates are subject to change, call ahead to verify availability.
