@ The Julia de Burgos Cultural Center

Our new ticket subsidy program of monthly in-house LP21 Performance/Lectures for NYC schools and school-aged children.

Los Pleneros de la 21 (LP21) are proud to launch its new program initiative, BOMBA Y PLENA EN LA CASA, a ticket subsidy program sponsored by the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs (DCA), designed to provide quality arts and educational performances to NYC schools and school-aged children (k-12) at affordable prices!

During the spring months of 2008 (from April 2008 through June 2008), LP21 artists and seasoned teaching artists will provide 1-hour performance/lecture presentations for NYC Schools at LP21’s home base to teach students about Bomba and Plena, and Puerto Rican traditional and community expressions.

All sessions reflect the true LP21 style of fun, energetic and informative sessions that highlight the cultural vitality of East Harlem and Puerto Rican traditions.

This is a unique program that creates a platform for students to visit an East Harlem Cultural Institution and to participate first-hand in performances and demonstrations.

As a ticket subsidy program, students can participate in these quality activities at just $5.00 per ticket!

Schools can chose from the following set-dates:

• Thursday April 29th 2008
• Thursday, May 1st 2008
• Friday, May 23rd 2008
• Thursday June 6th 2008
• Or call us for alternate dates!

Participating schools are asked to complete a reservation form, submitted at least 2 weeks before performance date.

Download a Reservation Request form here, for complete program details and reservation instructions, download here. All Reservation Request Forms can be submitted via fax to 212-427-5339 or can be submitted via email to nellietanco@aol.com.
